They wanted to know if I had made charges to myVisa credit card to places in Sidney Australia, some computer company through Google. I hope I did not do anything to help the scam artist. I did answer the text message and I did call the 1-800 number, but got no answer, just a recording.
BANK card/debit/credit card information scam.
Received a text from a fraud center (which turns out to be a fraud) for my bank with the last four digits of my card and I am requested at 3:30am to give them a call and supply information. IT’S A SCAM. Please, don’t be an idiot and give them all of your information.
Turns out, not a scam. I got a phone call from the same number on my house phone saying the same thing, then I called the number on the back of my card and sure enough someone tried to use it in a different country.
It’s still fishy AF getting texted/called by someone not directly affiliated with your bank and whose caller ID seems unofficial, best just to call the number on your card (safest route).
